08:37 pm - Set of tunes
Hi guys,

I need some help with language recognition. I found this song at the "Celtic Ballads" compilation. I would love to learn it by heart, but I don't know in what language is it sung and I don't have the lyrics. Could anyone, please, tell me what language is it and help me with writing down the lyrics or, at least, say what this song is about? Or probably you could recommend me a community to which I can post it too :)

Tony McManus - Set of Tunes

Thank you very, very much!

At a guess, I would *think* it's Irish Gaelic ("agus", "sa" function words). But my only exposure to the Celtic languages is Ulster-dialect Irish, and even that is very limited. So...maybe I shouldn't comment at all. :-D But that's what I think.

Good luck!

It's Scottish Gaelic. Catherine Ann MacPhee singing. The song is called "Nuair Bha Mi Og" - "When I Was Young". The lyrics are here. :)

I should also note that she sings at least one verse that isn't in the original lyrics (what I linked you to), but other than that. :)
