Hey sorry for community flooding here, but I've been looking around at teaching aids, and ran into Teach Me Irish. I'm kind of stumped, as there are actually a lot of teaching aid stuff out there - Learning Irish, Teach Yourself Irish and so on, and I'm getting conflicting opinions on them all. Anyone used Teach Me Irish? It comes with audio which I'm really looking for as pronunciation is a killer with my accent, and it's reasonably priced. I'm geared more toward Munster, but I'm still green as I haven't got my act (read : cash) together yet, so I'm really starting at the beginner's spot. This is a done-to-death question, but which teaching aids are best? Is Munster-flavoured gaelic harder to learn for beginners do you think?
Also, what's the deal with "standard Irish"?

Dunno, I know that Ulster Irish was hard to learn when my dad was pronouncing it Connacht-style to me at home. Don't think it matters whether you're a beginner or not, I would say try to stick to materials/teachers all in one dialect so you don't learn a mishmash dialect or get confused.

What's the deal? Some dislike the whole concept, but if you're going to teach it in a classroom, standardization is useful, IMO. It's argued that the standard is not a "real" dialect, so why teach it at all?
